The Whakatau Mai  l  The Wellbeing Sessions website is owned and run by the Changing Minds Trust (Changing Minds), a national not-for-profit organisation operated entirely by those with personal experience of recovery from mental health and/or addiction issues. We work in the broad area of wellbeing services, advocacy, human rights, and health policy.

This agreement sets forth the terms and conditions which apply to the use by you of the Whakatau Mai website and any other service offered on the interactive online service operated by Changing Minds.

The right to use any product or service offered is personal to you and is not transferable to any other person or entity.

Changing Minds reserve the right at any time to change or discontinue any aspect or feature of the Whakatau Mai website.

Any information provided on this website is to be used for informational/educational purposes only and should not be used as a substitute for seeking professional care.

Privacy Policy:

We recognise and respect the importance of protecting your privacy. By providing us with your personal information in the Registration process to attend a session(s), you consent to the collection, holding, use and disclosure of your personal information in accordance with this Privacy Policy.

Information like your email address is needed so you can receive the secure Zoom link to join the online session. We will contact you using the email address supplied only to give information about the session(s) you have registered for.

We ask for minimal contact information upon registration so that we can follow up with you privately if you leave a session unexpectedly and we have reason to believe it’s because you are distressed. We would do this to check that you are okay, give you a chance to debrief as needed and link you in with support if you would find this useful.

Please be assured your personal information is stored securely, and is only accessible to key members of the project team should follow-up be needed, as described above. It is not accessible to session facilitators, crew, other guests, or any other agency.

Confidentiality:

We are committed to protecting your privacy. Any personal information provided to us will be treated in accordance with the Privacy Act 1993 and not be used or disclosed other than as described in this Privacy Policy.

The use of any customer information is strictly confidential and will never be given or sold to any other parties.

We will not disclose any of your personal information, except for the following reasons:

  • For statistical purposes

  • When it is required by law

  • To protect the rights of Changing Minds

  • When permission has been granted to do so (eg, bookings for external workshops)

If we have concerns for your wellbeing or recognise you may be in mental distress, in which case we may pass your details onto health providers, or the NZ Police if we deem your state of mind to be of danger to yourself or to others.

Information Collected:

Changing Minds collects and uses a limited amount personal information from Whakatau Mai Wellbeing Session registrants including: names, addresses, telephone numbers, e-mail addresses, event attendance, and feedback survey data submitted after each session.

We reserve the right to use and track non-personally identifiable information from our official website(s), such as usage and volume statistics, for research purposes and to further develop our website(s). 

How Information Is Used:

  • For direct communications relating to the session(s) you have registered for.

  • For statistical analysis used in reporting and to improve our operations and communications.

Data Security:

We use a variety of data security measures intended to ensure the confidentiality and integrity of your personal information.

We do not hold personal information for longer than is required for the purpose for which the information was gathered.

Access and Correction Of Information:

Under the Privacy Act 1993 you have the right to access and request a correction to your personal information. To ensure that your recorded personal information is accurate and up-to-date, please notify us of any changes to your personal details as soon as possible.
